Health insurance for international students
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is intended to assist internationalstudents to meet the costs of medical and hospital care that they may needwhile in Australia. A condition of the Student visa requires that studentsmaintain adequate health insurance for the duration of their visa.
From 1 July 2010 students must obtain OSHC for the proposed duration oftheir Student visa. Student visa applicants who have obtained OSHC prior to 1July 2010 but do not lodge an application until after this date will not beasked to obtain further insurance. You will be expected to renew your policywhen it expires.
Note: Ifyou are from Norway or Sweden, your government will provide your overseashealth cover.

The cover is calculated as follows:
| Course Duration | Visa / OSHC required |
| 10 months or less | Course duration plus an extra 1 months cover |
| more than 10 months (finishing January to September) | Course duration plus an extra 2 months cover |
| more than 10 months (finishing October to December) | Course duration plus additional month to cover student until 15 March the following year |
