Please note that the BC PNP has updated income thresholds to reflect 2012 data published by Statistics Canada. BC PNP applications received on or before October 4, 2013 will be assessed according to the previously published income threshold figures. Applications received after October 4, 2013 will be assessed according to the current income threshold figures taken from Statistics Canada's 2012 Low Income Cut-Offs.

Income Thresholds

The BC PNP will NOT approve an application if it appears likely that the nominee applicant's family income will be less than the applicable Income Threshold for the nominee applicant’s place of residence, as shown in the table below.

Family income is the total of:

  1. the nominee applicant’s annual regular wage from the BC employer supporting the PNP application, and, if applicable;
  2. the spouse’s annual regular wage in BC from work authorized under a valid work permit.

The BC PNP will only consider the guaranteed wage for the assessment of the application. Bonuses, commissions, profit sharing distributions, tips / gratuities, and overtime wages are NOT considered for the purposes of calculating the family income.

The spouse’s annual wage will only be included in the family income for the purposes of calculating the Income Threshold if the spouse is in possession of a valid work permit, and is presently employed in BC.  The nominee applicant’s spouse and dependents, whether accompanying or not, will be included when determining the size of the family unit for the purposes of calculating the applicable Income Threshold.
